Take a look at a couple of pics of my veggy patch.

Centre bottom of this pic are two small Courgette plants. That bit of ground isn't in the first pic. Up from the Courgettes is a row of radishes. They can faintly be seen at the very bottom of the first pic as a line of tiny seedlings. I've eaten most of them now. The life of a Radish is short and fruitful.

You refer to the bain of all gardeners lives. They've been working their way through all the basil in the greenhouse for almost a week now. In fact I'm gonna go and kill some!!!!

Brave man. I can't bear to kill the blighters. I did use a beer trap once, but forgot about it and then nearly threw up at the disgusting smell. I do have frogs in my employ, but although they appear to be getting fatter, the slimy ones don't appear diminished in number. They (not the frogs) had all my basil last year. Lemon basil it was too - so delicious - if only I could have had some.

Success I just killed about 20 of the buggers. 4, I'm not exaggerating, actually red handed in the act of eating the Basil. I found another 3 and two snails on a radish. I stamped on these ones, not the best method as other slugs will feed off their bodies; I didn't believe it either until I saw it. If your a bit squeamish try tying them up in a plastic bag and freezing them, then chucking them in the bin the next day.
Fight the molluscs!
They frickin love basil, more than anything else, I’m afraid without any defence even your Lemon Basil didn’t stand a chance.

Well done. I presume since you're going to all this trouble that you're an organic gardener.
Thank you very much for the plastic bag/freezer solution to the evil ones. I'm going to try that.
I could use some copper tape too, but it's not suitable to use out in the garden, only on pots or trays. Of course, that doesn't kill them, but at least it prevents them from munching - I hope.
Oo go you! Good luck in fighting the plant killers. I havent the paitience for gardening

I never realised you were a gardening sort of bloke. We have something in common, although I must say that my veggie patch at the moment looks more like your top one. Anything that comes up in it is immediate fodder for the wildlife - mainly of the slimy sort. I've got some delicious strawberries though - well, the bits that haven't been eaten.
