Unfortunate Domain Names

by mjohnson @ 2006-02-20 - 21:01:32

This is from New Scientist who say they got it from a fwd.

They're internet domain names consisting of run-together words that, in their terminology, can be parsed in unintended ways. Don't worry you will know what parsed means by the end.

Take a look at, Who represents, a database of agencies for the rich and famous.

The Beckham Corpse

by mjohnson @ 2006-02-17 - 02:10:22

Has anyone else noticed the similarity between Mrs B and a corpse.

I'm rather proud of this. I think I'm gonna send it to Private eye and Heat magazine.

Update: it was published I'm proud.

The Green Talking Bush

by mjohnson @ 2006-02-09 - 17:59:10

My mother always told me if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all. I have to admit to applying this advice, at best, sparingly throughout my life and in relation to George W Bush not at all. However the man has at long last allowed me to say something my Mother would approve of. Take a look at the following quotes lifted from Georgies State of the Union address.

Our third goal is to promote energy independence for our country, while dramatically improving the environment. (Applause.) I have sent you a comprehensive energy plan to promote energy efficiency and conservation, to develop cleaner technology, and to produce more energy at home.

Tonight I'm proposing $1.2 billion in research funding so that America can lead the world in developing clean, hydrogen-powered automobiles.

The fact that these words come from the mouth of the worlds most powerful man means they have a real chance of happening and represent a significant U turn. Why is this failed oil barren moving away from oil? Simple answer; his war in Iraq has failed to get him the influence and security he needs to secure a future for an oil based economy. Once a failed oil barren always a failed oil barren.

The cost of the Iraq war is so large that it has long ceased being comprehensable in dollar terms let alone human costs. Take a look at this qoute from Tuesdays Guardian online (link at the end):

The real cost to the US of the Iraq war is likely to be between $1 trillion and $2 trillion (£1.1 trillion), up to 10 times more than previously thought, according to a report written by a Nobel prize-winning economist and a Harvard budget expert.

The cost of the Iraq war to America has and will continue to be astronomical and this is proving that however much Bush would like to control the world's oil reserves he can't, even with an enormous army and all the weaponary money can buy. America used the bulk of it's own oil up long ago and it's going to have to start getting used to it.

The war has cost over a thousand times more than his Hydrogen car project, a bargain, and nobody dies. If only someone had told bush before the war. America could have been selling Sadam hydro-cars by now.

Economics is the bottom line. Wind and solar power are at last becoming economically viable and are being adopted all over the world to suplement the income of land owners, farmers and ranchers.(see BBC link) Our ultimately inevitable future of renewable energy is at long last becoming something more than a pipe dream and its at least partially due to Kids with patchy beards in a far away country who were prepared to blow themselves and their country men up to scuper the ambitions of George W.

Letters to the Editor

by mjohnson @ 2006-02-06 - 23:06:53

These are from a Fwd I got, they claim to be unpublished letters to the editor. (These are my favourites. If you want the rest befriend my uncle Brian)

The government says that there are nearly 50,000 people with HIV in Britain, a third of whom do not even know that they have it. Is it just me, or is it a bit harsh that the government know and haven't told the poor sods? John Campbell, e-mail

Hats off to the witty burglars who stole my entire CD collection with the exception of "There is Nothing Left to Lose" by the Foo Fighters. I hope that when sentencing, the judge takes into account their splendid sense of humour. Chris Scaife, Jesmond

Did anyone else feel that Mel Gibson's remake of the classic Life of Brian wasn't anywhere near as funny as the original?

Peter Andre might look smug in all his wedding pictures, but I'd just like to remind him that, as a Playboy reader, I have seen his wife's minge, He hasn't seen my wife's, so who's had the last laugh? P, Leeds

ALI Bombayay

After reading this article in Wikipedia I thought I would have a go:

Several post-modern satirists have highlighted the point that since no one really knows what Mohammed looked like any image could be said to depict him. To that end, they have captioned photos of their thumbs or rudimentary stick figures as "Mohammed."

Have a go yourself.
